This week we put up our Christmas tree in the classroom! The toddlers loved the lights, checking them out closely and noticing the reflection on their hands.
Our Gluing Project. This week we continued to add more items to our board! We added more sandpaper. It’s interesting to watch the children add, remove or move objects. They are working together to create a masterpiece.
The toddlers continue to display an interest in tools. We have put out the plastic set for them to have easy access to. They use the screw to fill the holes and try adding other parts, which is great for their fine motor skills!
It’s not just a box! The toddlers discovered they can play peek-a-boo with the box! They enjoy taking turns and great to see them smiling and laughing.
Shaving cream painting! The toddlers were offered shaving cream for a sensory activity, however nobody wanted to dig in and get messy. SO, we offered popsicles sticks, spoons paintbrushes and paint! They mixed their colours and then transferred their coloured shaving cream to a paper.
Continuing to cut up food! This week we challenged the toddlers to cut a cucumber. We found it much harder to cut. We had to push our knife and go back and forth. Once we cut a piece off, we enjoyed eating it! I wonder what we will try cutting next week?
Continuing to care for our babies! This week we discovered that if we put our babies in our shirt, we can carry them around! Once baby is packed, they say “Bye” and pretend to go shopping! This is great representation of what they see in the world around them.
Balance Bean Fun! When we are stuck inside, we still have the opportunity to move our bodies This week we tried walking along a balance beam. Some toddlers were able to do it with assistance, others preferred to check it out and see how it was built.
Sand in the sensory bin! We had artic animals and blue sand in our bin this week. The toddlers used our car ramp as a bridge for the bears. They enjoyed lining them up labeling them as “mama bear and baby bear.”
Some of our friends discovered ice outside! We explore by touch and tried to look through it. The cold weather is coming!
Can you paint a circle? The toddlers love painting, this week we challenged them to paint circles, we are working on shapes as there has been a lot of discussion on drawing their families lately.
